The cz online casino market is one of the more genuinely mature, competitive systems in Central Europe, legalised by a comprehensive gaming statute that took effect in January 2017. The Ministry of Finance (Ministerstvo financí) handles all licensing and regulation directly – there’s no separate gambling commission here. Private operators registered anywhere in the EU or EEA can apply for a Czech license, which means real competition and genuine regulatory oversight rather than a closed monopoly model. Both CZK (Czech koruna) and EUR show up across Czech-facing platforms, though most accounts actually run natively in EUR. Every Ministry-licensed casino online Czech Republic platform must offer a genuine Czech-language interface. Our RankIGaming field team tested both Ministry-licensed and offshore platforms directly to confirm everything in this guide, whether it’s part of our full online casinos directory or its own entry once our country directory adds a dedicated Czech Republic page.
GambleAdvisors may earn a commission when you sign up through links on this page. This never affects our rankings – we do not accept payment for placement, and every operator passed the same testing process regardless of commercial relationship. Full methodology is below.
The Czech Republic has a comprehensive gambling law, the Gambling Act (Act No. 186/2016 Coll., Zákon o hazardních hrách, ZHH), in force since January 2017 – the first time internet casino games were made legal in the country, after decades of land-based-only gambling. The Ministry of Finance is the sole licensing body for every type of gambling. Licensing runs in two stages: a first license certifies an operator’s eligibility to apply at all, and a basic license then authorizes specific game types. Operators need a registered office somewhere in the Czech Republic or another EU/EEA state, and their gaming servers must be physically located within the EU/EEA too.
The ministry has a list of approved operators and a blacklist of banned sites, published monthly at mfcr.cz. Czech internet providers are obliged to block access to blacklisted sites and Czech financial institutions are obliged to block payments to them, although some offshore sites are accessible with a VPN and individual players are not prosecuted for using them. Every licensed cz casino must offer games and terms in Czech.
The Czech Republic has over 100 legal land-based casinos which makes it one of the greatest densities in Europe. There are at least 20 licensed venues in Prague alone, in large hotels, in the city center and places created for tourists. Other large casino cities include Brno, Plzeň, Olomouc, Liberec and the spa town of Netolice. This is a real gaming legacy, decades before the internet – herny, slot machine parlours used to be everywhere, until legislation in 2017 saw several towns ban them outright, with thousands of machines taken out of public spaces as a consequence. In addition to the first and basic licenses provided by the Ministry, casinos that intend to open must get a gambling premises location license from municipal authorities.
Currency habits here differ from what you might expect.

| Visa/Mastercard Debit | Instant | 1-5 days | Most accepted option at Ministry-licensed sites; accounts typically run in EUR |
| Bank Transfer (SEPA EUR) | 1-3 days | 2-5 days | Czech players commonly use EUR accounts despite CZK being the domestic currency |
| Skrill/Neteller | Instant | 0-24 hours | Available at licensed Czech and offshore MGA platforms |
| PayPal | Instant | 0-24 hours | Available at selected licensed Czech platforms |
| Paysafecard | Instant | Not available | Sold at Czech supermarkets and petrol stations |

A very handy peculiarity to know about: the Czech Republic isn’t in the eurozone, thus the country’s currency is the koruna (Kč/CZK), yet most online casino sites including those approved by the Ministry actually operate accounts in EUR. In actuality you would deposit and withdraw in koruna at your own bank, with automated conversion, or you would use a card that supports EUR directly. Domestic banks including Česká spořitelna, Komerční banka, ČSOB, Fio Banka and mBank support EUR and CZK SEPA transactions. Paysafecard vouchers are available in many stores around the country including Kaufland, Albert, OMV and Shell.
Unlike Germany, where online casinos are restricted to slots only, Czech players at Ministry-licensed platforms get access to full game libraries, including genuine live dealer tables and progressive jackpots.
Online slots (automaty), live dealer roulette, video poker, and blackjack are the most popular categories. Prague’s land-based casino scene has built a particularly strong blackjack tradition over the decades, and that carries through clearly to online blackjack’s popularity today. Leading slot providers include Pragmatic Play, Play’n GO, NetEnt, and EGT Digital (a Bulgarian provider with a strong presence across Central Europe), alongside two names with genuine Czech roots: KAJOT and Synot Games, both Czech-developed studios that carry real cultural weight locally and remain widely available at licensed platforms. The Book of Ra remains hugely popular too, a direct legacy of its dominance in Czech herny before the 2017 reforms.
The live casino leader is Evolution Gaming and on some platforms you can find live dealer tables in Czech language. Progressive jackpots are entirely allowed under Czech licensing requirements, unlike in certain more restrictive European countries.
The Czech translation for a casino registration bonus is cz casino bonus za registraci – a no-deposit welcome bonus that is given to new players simply for opening an account.
It is a genuinely useful transparency requirement for Ministry-licensed casinos to disclose every bonus term in Czech. Note that the Czech Republic has a relatively high operator tax rate on online casino games (see the tax section below) which can mean smaller bonuses versus lower tax jurisdictions, with some offshore platforms offering larger promotions as a consequence. Bonus amounts in EUR are standard even for Czech players, CZK offers are still somewhat rare.
| Bonus Type | Range (EUR) | Wagering | Czech Republic Notes |
| Casino Bonus Za Registraci (No Deposit) | €5-€25 or 10-25 free spins | 35x-60x on winnings | Register only, but verify Czech Republic eligibility |
| Welcome Deposit Match | 50%-100% up to €100-€500 | 20x-40x | Ministry-licensed sites must provide clear Czech-language terms |
| Free Spins (on deposit) | 20-100 spins | 20x-40x | Usually on popular Czech and EU slot titles |
| Cashback | 5%-15% weekly | 0x-5x | Common offshore, growing at licensed Czech sites too |
When considering a casino no deposit bonus Czech Republic, it is worthwhile to consider both a ministry-licensed alternative, and an offshore platform, provided you are comfortable with the compromises involved, as bonus rules and sizes vary significantly between the two categories. When compiling any top casino website shortlist for this market especially, look to the license type as the first filter, not the headline bonus figure.
No – Czech players do not pay personal income tax on casino winnings from Czech-licensed or offshore sites, no matter how much they win. The tax burden is on the operators instead.
When the 2017 Gambling Act came into force, online casino games (RNG-based slots and table games) were set at 35% of gross gaming revenue, with sports betting and lotteries at 23%. Both percentages are widely quoted and were correct at the time of introduction, giving the online casino one of the highest rates in Europe. However, it is worth flagging that Czech gambling tax rates have moved at least once since 2017 – industry reporting points to a subsequent increase on the sports betting and lottery side specifically – so we’d recommend confirming the exact current rates directly against the Ministry of Finance’s published figures at mfcr.cz rather than treating 35%/23% as permanently fixed. Regardless of what the operator rate is today, the answer for the player remains the same – earnings are still 100% tax-free for recreational Czech players.
Each platform on this page goes through the same procedure, led by our editorial team (bios listed at the top of this page) with field testing by RankIGaming:
| Resource | Contact | Coverage |
| Registr osob vyloučených z účasti na hazardních hrách | mfcr.cz | National self-exclusion, online and land-based |
| Centrum pro léčbu závislostí | 800 350 000 (free, anonymous) | Addiction treatment nationwide |
| Gamblers Anonymous Czech Republic | ag-czechrepublic.cz | Anonymous peer support groups |
Every operator is obliged to give deposit limits, loss limits, session restrictions, self-exclusion and reality checks as necessary tools, according to the Czech Gambling Act. Gambling ads are also prohibited near schools and other educational institutions. If gaming stops being fun, it’s a smart move to call the helpline or Centrum pro léčbu závislostí, not a failure.
